Xiaomi Mi Folding Screen Phone Leaked with MIUI 12 OS Coming this Year

In the past two years, all major mobile phone manufacturers have been making efforts in folding screen devices, but only a few manufacturers such as Huawei and Samsung can achieve mass production at present.

Now, that may be about to break.
This afternoon, netizens reported seeing a device that looks like a Xiaomi foldable phone on the subway, which uses a folding scheme similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and runs the MIUI 12 system.

However, judging from the pictures, Xiaomi’s foldable device is still relatively large when the screen is expanded, so it’s unclear whether Xiaomi will release it as a tablet device.
In fact, several years ago, Xiaomi started the research and development of the folding screen device. As early as January 2019, Lin Bin, co-founder of Xiaomi and vice chairman of Xiaomi Group, showed Xiaomi’s folding screen engineering phone.

The device also uses a double-fold scheme to combine the tablet and phone experience perfectly. Unfortunately, the foldable phone never made it into mass production.
It’s worth mentioning that Xiaomi is expected to launch three fold-screen phones next year, with three different industrial design forms, namely fold out, fold in and flip out.

That is to say, in addition to the exposure of the folding model, Xiaomi will also push two different forms of folding screen phones this year.

Xiaomi’s foldable device will use UTG ultra-thin flexible glass technology from Samsung, the source said. The current engineering device already supports 90Hz display rate, and is expected to support 120Hz display rate in the future.
