Revealed that Apple is developing iPad Air 6: upgrade M2 self-developed chip performance increased

igeekphone July 17 news, in March last year, Apple released the iPad Air 5, the first introduction of the M1 desktop chip, brought the Air tablet product line innovation.

According to the latest news from Mark Gurman, Apple is currently working on a new generation of iPad Air tablets (iPad Air 6), which will be launched later this year.

According to the news, the biggest highlight of the iPad Air 6 is the performance upgrade, the new product will be equipped with M2 processor, using TSMC’s second-generation 5nm technology, containing about 20 billion transistors, 4 billion more than the M1 (25%), 5 billion more than the A15.

In terms of performance, the M2 is 18% better than the M1 in terms of multi-threaded cpus, graphics processor performance is 35% better, and the neural network engine is 40% faster.

In addition, the memory bandwidth of the M2 chip is 50% higher than that of the M1, and the M2’s shared L2 cache is increased to 16MB, which is 4MB more than both the M1 and A15. Thanks to the improved performance, the M2 supports 8K video decoding (M1 supports 4K).

As for the appearance and other configurations, it is the same as the previous generation, and the front adopts the 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, which supports P3 wide color gamut and primary color display.

The Type-C interface is used to make the transfer of large files faster, and it is also expected to upgrade the fast charge power.
