Ever felt left out despite being competent and having extraordinary abilities? Congratulations, you and OPPO’s other lineups feel almost the same way. Amidst the incredible response of Reno’s powerful lineup, OPPO’s sub-brand, other smartphone series of OPPO are apparently being neglected. While Reno’s latest devices are the center of attention, other smartphones are barely receiving any publicity. This is clearly the case for the new A9 mid-range smartphone that got no official announcement or press release and was just plopped on the official site with succinct specs and pricing.
OPPO A9: Leaked Specifications
OPPO’s official site completely ignored their newest release of the A9. The official site does not even mention the exact SoC. However, praise be to GSMArena, for extracting credible leaks out of the situation. The OPPO A9 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 chipset coupled with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage (expandable-storage). As far as the display is concerned, the A9 comes with a 6.53-inch 2,340 x 1,080 IPS screen. There also is a teardrop notch hiding a 16 MP selfie cam with HDR capabilities.
The rear of the handset contains a 16 MP main shooter and a 2 MP depth sensor. No innovation on the biometric sensor’s position as the fingerprint reader is placed on the back, as well. The new OPPO A9 comes with three color options: Mica Green, Ice Jade White, and Flourite Purple. Other features include a hefty 4,020 mAh battery, audio jack, GameBoost 2.0 for easy overclocking during gaming sessions and Android 9.0 with ColorOS 6 UI.
While the OPPO A9 will only be available in China initially, OPPO is expected to launch the model in other countries after a few months. The model will begin shipping on April 30 for around US$267.
