China’s leading smartphone OnePlus has kept the making of smart TV under the curtains for quite a while. OnePlus TV, with its internal title, was announced by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau last year.
OnePlus TV close to launch?
After the revelation that the company is working on OnePlus TV, there has been no update regarding this smart TV. Now, it seems that the company is finally ready to launch the product. According to the report from leakster Ishan Agarwal, OnePlus TV launch is “not very far away”. However, he has not provided any more details regarding the launch.
According to Pete Lau, the company is targeting mid-2019 to launch the Smart TV. However, later he said that the launch could get pushed to 2020. But the latest development seems to suggest that the earlier estimate is right and the smart TV could get launched in the coming months.
Unconventional Smart TV
The company has already said that the smart TV will be unlike the television sets available in the market today. It is planning to introduce a smart TV that will run on its own AI engine. The TV will be able to easily communicate with a smartphone and become smarter with time, thanks to its AI integration.
Furthermore, the TV will also have a way to seamlessly connect with the smartphone, enabling it to show reminders and traffic information among others. There will be a built-in camera as well. In addition, Pete Lau said that the company will also have a solution for the concerns related to the home-privacy.
OnePlus made an unusual announcement during the launch of OnePlus 7 series in India. Indian Head for OnePlus, Vikas Gupta said that the OnePlus TV is the company’s next focus for the Indian market, without revealing any more information. This hints that whenever the smart TV gets launched, India will be among the first countries to get it.
