The trend of foldable smartphones is slowly seeping through the smartphone industry. While we have already seen foldable smartphones like Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X, other manufacturers are developing their own devices that will be released soon. The next manufacturer to join the list will be Motorola with its Razr (2019).
Motorola Razr – Motorola’s first-ever foldable smartphone
Motorola’s Razr (2019) is the company’s legendary best-selling phone. It is getting a reissue with a foldable feature. Now, several press images of the smartphone have leaked online giving a good look of the Motorola Razr (2019) in all its glory.
Razr – Better philosophy than Samsung & Huawei combined
After the apparent design failure of Samsung and probably Huawei’s, Motorola didn’t follow the philosophy of creating a device with a large tablet-sized screen. Instead, it created a smartphone with a large screen that can be folded to take up less space.
Motorola has catered the most important and raised issue in the wake of fold devices. The Motorola Razr (2019) folds inwards which protects the screen from bumps and scratches. It has a thicker area on the bottom that facilitates closing and prevents the handset from being accidentally deployed. Since none of the filtered images shows the device in a closed state, it is not known if it will be fully folded or there will be a gap between both the screens as in the case of Galaxy Fold.
Price update
The Lenovo owned manufacturer has not released any official word on the price or availability of the Motorola Razr (2019). According to the rumors, it will be somewhat more affordable than the Samsung and Huawei devices at around $1,500. It is more likely to go against foldable smartphones from OPPO and Xiaomi.
