Today Huawei officially announced its new next generation high end processor HiSilicon Kirin 960 in China. With the it comes more efficiency and a huge graphical performance boost.
In comparison to last years Kirin 950 model the Kirin 960 octa core processor is 18% faster thanks to the new architecture of four Cortex-A73 and four Cortex-A53 cores, which at it´s peak goes up to a frequency 2.8 GHz.
The CPU of the Kirin 950 was already great to begin with, but what slowed it down was the Mali-T880MP4 GPU. Instead, the Kirin 960 comes with a Mali-G71 which improves the graphical power by a stunning 180%. Power consumption is also improved here, because it consumes 40% less than its predecessor.
The 16 nm FinFET manufactured chip also supports LTE Cat.12, Cat.13 and LPDDR4 RAM. With this it´s possible to reach up to 600 Mbps download and 150 Mbps upload speed.
The Kirin 960 will probably officially launch with the new Huawei Mate 9, which is supposed to launch on the 3rd of November in Munich.
