iPhone 15 Series: A Visual Comparison of the Four Models

Two days remain until the much-anticipated launch of the iPhone 15 series, scheduled for 1 a.m. on September 13, Beijing time. The imminent release includes the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and the Pro variants, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone15 Pro Max.

TrendForce has meticulously compiled predictions regarding the specifications of these four upcoming models. In terms of hardware, Apple is poised to embrace the Type-C interface this year, necessitated by regulations imposed by the EU, leading to a replacement of the previous port.

The key upgrade in the iPhone 15 and iPhone15 Plus is the synchronization of their primary lenses. Meanwhile, the Pro series boasts a 48-megapixel primary lens and upgrades to the Dynamic Island technology.

The Pro series specifications encompass an enhanced processor chip, the 3nm A17 chip, expanded memory capacity up to 8GB, and the introduction of a titanium aluminum alloy middle frame. Additionally, the Pro Max variant will feature a periscope lens to optimize its imaging capabilities.

In light of the global economic downturn, TrendForce speculates that Apple may adopt a more cautious pricing strategy to prevent sales disruption. Notably, the iPhone15 and iPhone 15 Plus, despite the 48MP main lens upgrade, will continue to use the A16 processor from the iPhone 14 Pro series. Consequently, apart from other specifications, there won’t be significant changes in their starting prices, which are expected to mirror those of the previous year.

Although certain enhancements in the iPhone15 Pro might incur additional costs, it is projected that reductions in other components could balance this out.

In summary, TrendForce’s analysis predicts that the pricing of the iPhone15, iPhone15 Plus, and iPhone15 Pro models will remain on par with last year, considering the terminal pricing. As for the Pro Max variant, owing to the inclusion of the high-unit-price periscope lens, there might be a slight price increase of under $100 to reflect the associated costs. If such an increase occurs, it would mark the first price adjustment since the iPhone X.

To elaborate further on the pricing:

  • iPhone15: Starting at $799 (currently unchanged, or starting at 5,999 yuan for the Bank of China).
  • iPhone15 Plus: Starting at $899 (currently unchanged, or starting at 6,999 yuan in China).
  • iPhone15 Pro: Starting at $999 (current starting price is $999, or starting at 7,999 yuan in China).

iPhone 15 Pro Max: Starting at $1,199 (current starting price is $1,099, or starting at 8,999 yuan in China).
Based on this analysis, the initial prices of iPhone15 and 15 Plus in China remain at 5,999 yuan and 6,999 yuan, respectively. The iPhone15 Pro is anticipated to maintain its starting price of 7,999 yuan, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max might experience a price increase to 9,999 yuan or potentially exceed the 10,000 yuan mark.
