We have covered the upcoming iPads of 2021 multiple times, but every time we only had snippets of info and rumors. Today we also get to show you some renders of the upcoming device, or better said the 11 inch and 12.9 inch iPad Pro models. They seem to show some changes and all of these renders are coming courtesy of 91Mobiles.
I’ll remind you that the new iPad Pros (supposedly coming in March) are due a screen change, going from LCD to mini LED or OLED even. It’s also high time that Apple released a 5G iPad. Anyway, the 12.9 inch iPad Pro 2021 is said to be the very first mini-LED device. Production of the panels has already started and the tablet is expected to drop in H1 2021. What we get to see today are CAD-based renders of the 12.9 inch iPad Pro. We have no way of telling if we’re dealing with an OLED or mini LED panel here, sadly.
The 2021 model seems to be very similar to the iPad Pro 12.9 inch 2020, with squared off edges and also quad speakers, plus a single USB-C port. There’s also the pogo pin section fo keyboards, the unibody metal chassis and the rounded corners. The camera also seems similar to the 2020 odel, with two lenses and a LiDAR unit. The 11 inch iPad Pro also looks like the predecessor, but it’s now smaller in footprint, with less width and height. It keeps the same thickness. This iPad measures 245.74 x 176.61 x 5.90 mm.
There’s a recessed area on the right side, which may be associated to a Touch ID fingerprint scanner, similar to the iPad Air (2020) one. It will be very interesting to see which CPUs are being used here, with the usual suspects being Apple A14, a new Apple A14X or even the Apple M1. the iPad Pro 2020 had an Apple A12Z inside, which is no longer impressive nowadays. The core idea? Aside from the screen and CPU, there are no changes.
