Huawei has released three generations of foldable phones, but none is cheap, and even so, it’s hard to get one.
According to the latest reports, while Huawei is optimistic about the direction of foldable screens, its phone business is still moving forward.
Sources say Huawei has at least three foldable phones in the works for the second half of the year, priced lower than the current Mate X series, or with a new family name and a more user-friendly product definition.
Together with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 2 and other foldable phones, Huawei’s new foldable phone shipments will total 7 million units this year. Last year, only 2.8 million foldable phones were sold.

Of course, on the competitive level, Xiaomi Mix Fold has already achieved the starting price of 9,999 yuan, which is 40% cheaper than Huawei Mate X2. If Huawei sacrifices some parameters such as processor, screen size, camera configuration and so on to achieve similar or even lower price, it is still worth watching whether it can win over consumers.
