Just yesterday, a video surfaced showing a Huawei Mate 40 Pro with HarmonyOS 2.0 running live. The clip detailed the features and functionality of the Chinese giant’s internal operating system. And recently, another video appeared online, which shows a comparison between HarmonyOS 2.0 and EMUI 11 loaded phones.
The comparison is between the Developer Beta 3 version of HarmonyOS 2.0 and the current stable firmware of EMUI 11. The video highlights the features and some performance metrics of both operating systems.
In terms of speed, HarmonyOS was found to be a bit slower than the EMUI 11 around app loading time. This may not be a definitive indicator that EMUI 11 was faster; there could be several reasons. The speed test was also conducted on two different phone models and it is impossible to situate the differences in the loading times of their apps in such a scenario.
It is therefore difficult to compare the performance of the two operating systems because we do not have the stable build of HarmonyOS and we do not know the two terminals used for performance tests.
Huawei plans to eventually roll out HarmonyOS to most of its products in the coming years. It hopes to start introducing the operating system in its new products within a few months. Therefore, we expect a stable build version very soon.
The most visible change in HarmonyOS is the new control center and search engine in the upper left corner. Nevertheless, there is a swipe-down gesture anywhere on the screen that allows notifications to be revealed.
