On August 14, the Google Pixel Watch 2 smartwatch is expected to be released with the Pixel 8 series of mobile phones later this year. Over the past few weeks, multiple leaks about the watch have revealed some of its features, and now the smartwatch has been certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Igeekphone noted that the FCC’s certification shows that the Pixel Watch 2 has three models, namely G4TSL, GC368 and GD2WG. Among them, the G4TSL is a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi enabled model with four strap options: plastic activity, metal mesh, metal chain, and metal thin. The metal chain strap may be the metal chain strap offered on the first generation Pixel Watch, while the metal mesh strap was never seen on the first generation Pixel Watch, and the metal thin strap also seems to be new.
The GC368 model supports LTE 5 and 7 bands, while the GD2WG model supports LTE 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 66 and 71 bands, which may be the US version of the cellular network model.
The FCC’s list does not mention UWB chips, which enable communication between devices and can be used for digital car keys, as previously reported.
The FCC certification of the Pixel Watch 2 means that Google is about to release this second-generation smartwatch. In addition to the certification information, according to previous Revelations, Pixel Watch 2 is expected to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor, which means that Google has given up Samsung’s Exynos processor, which is said to have significant performance improvements compared to the original Pixel Watch, and has better battery life.
