Here you can find the latest drivers for all MTK based devices.

You will need to install them in order to root or flash a custom rom ! Without the correct drivers it will not work !

Here are the drivers which i used for rooting:

http://www.file-upload.net/download-7267586/usb_driver.rar.html

Download the drivers and unzip them with winrar (http://www.winrar.com)

Connect your phone to the computer with the usb cable (USB debugging enabled)

Wait for your pc to detect it. Now go to start - controlpanel - system - devicemanager.

Now you will see a device with a yellow triangle (MTK or Android). Do a rightclick on the device and chose - "update driversoftware"

Now go to "have disk" and point to the folder which contains your drivers.

Now the drivers should be installed and the yellow triangle disappears.

Method 2 : Easy install with installer

Those are easy to install and work on almost every phone.

Here you can also find a tutorial on how to install them :

If you have problems with the installation , feel free to post a reply !

Hi I have a brand new TCL T720S and I rooted it. I screwed up badly by deleting the Android keyboard thinking that the switfkey keyboard I'd installed was clashing with it. This put the phone into boot loop.

But it gets worse. Even before I screwed up, I Installed snap pea, then uninstalled it, so I have lost/hidden/corrupted my only backup.

K trying to fix the boot loop I watched the video about using flash tool (which I did not have loaded) I think I finally got the point of the video, but the flashtool did not like the .txt file that i got from get ROM. Then I installed some ATK drivers from a source you recommended to try to get the flsahtool to work, and this wiped the drivers that were working semi-OK! So now the PC does not see any drivers. Also I can't see COM LPT it is there, but flashes off the screen in a second.

OK what else have i screwed up? The CWM has only appeared twice, once I think by luck, and after I tried to flash CWM with that Saddique guys script (I did us the correct TCL recovery .img from Get ROM, but that did not work to reboot the phone using this script. Also my PC does not see the new  USB drivers I d/l and unzip, even after I follow the windows 7 instructions to the letter.  I am so far off the grid now, and don't want to screw up anymore! I have the correct ROM d/l and ready to scatter using that unbrick package, but that did not work earlier today when the phone could see the PC. I used usboblivion to clear the cache etc. but still could not find the new installs. Finally, I have no idea what MTK or MT driver number I need anyway.  I am just getting confused, and exhausted, it has been 3 days of things getting worse (working all day as I'm on a vacation) and I'm googled out, the fixes just mess me up more, The phone is 4.4.2 (Kit Kat?)

Sorry if this sounds like I'm a completer newb, I have learned a lot while making the errors, but there are info gaps, and filling those has caused me to really screw up! So any help appreciated.

To recap I need.

To install the right drivers and have the PC see them

To flash the phone out of the boot cycle

Restore factory setting using a flash tool install of official software i already found

re-root

Find a Google playstore alternative (trying to get G playstore to play has been a week long nightmare, even before i screwed up I am DONE with it)

Reinstall all my English language apps

The leave the restored apps with red system 'warning tags' the f*ck alone!

Thanks,

Dhream.

ok lets see if we can help here

To recap I need.

To install the right drivers and have the PC see them

use USB DEVIEW to uninstall all mtk and other phone drivers from p.c.

than install these drivers http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-All-MTK-USB-Driver-2014

To flash the phone out of the boot cycle

use this tutorial try to download the latest sp flash tool version if that does not work then use the version before that and so on and so on

http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-SPFlash-Tool-Guide

Restore factory setting using a flash tool install of official software i already found

this point is moot if you are going to flash the factory rom onto the device as it will already be at original factory settings when flashed

re-root

to re-root i would advise using this method that i will link it will also install a custom recovery as well so you will be able to make a nandroid backup

http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-100-Working-ROOT-CWM-Readback-your-ROM-with-SP-Flash-Tools

Find a Google playstore alternative (trying to get G playstore to play has been a week long nightmare, even before i screwed up I am DONE with it)

you can install Gapps,(google play),using this method in the link

http://www.china-devices.com/Thread-No-Google-Apps-on-your-Smartphone-Read-this

alternatively you can download and install "aptoide" apk from this link, you must install it with a file explorer like es file explorer, copy and paste the apk to the root of your device and open with the file explorer

https://mega.co.nz/#!fdQHyC4R!kIKokzd22uIode85jfbhbVgdGjlYcpvUJQFZBTz9zIA

Reinstall all my English language apps

this will be done once you have playstore or aptoide working on your freshly flashed device after root

The leave the restored apps with red system 'warning tags' the f*ck alone!

download cleanmaster from playstore this will let you know which system apps cannot be removed also titanium backup + root this app will allow you to freeze system apps and if it affects your system unfreeze them again

Thanks,

Dhream.

no probs mate update the thread if you need anymore help

To prove to myself I'm not going crazy, or cannot follow simple instructions, I am going to report back on EVERY STEP until this phone is working...

So I installed and run USB DEVIEW carefully removed everything safe to do so, and drivers, there was a LOT of junk in there, most of it very recent. Ran CC cleaner to flush remnants. (with backup)

Downloaded All MTK drivers and installed New Inst Win7 Dp inst64.exe this is all I installed, from what I could gather, this is all I need at this step.

No issues observed.

OK checked on USB DEVIEW that the 'new' MTK preloader was installed. It was. Uninstalled it as per the YouTube guide'How to flash ROM for Every China Phone' went to MTK Preloader, on the Device Manager file path and right click into properties.

Here is my fist hurdle.

The T720 is a SEALED UNIT, there is no way to remove the battery. The battery is fully charged at present, the phone tells me that when I plug it into the PC, so it is not completely bricked.

However, in Device Manager Properties I get no way to update drivers, it is grayed out,

I'm thinking this is the battery being present and charged, not removed, as the TCL battery cannot be removed or accessed in any way. So, went to how to install preloader thread and found this

On devices with non-removable battery, pls find the reset button (camera hole, between volume rockers or under backcover) , connect phone and press the reset button to get the preloader recognized in Device manager.

OK! So now we have located the reset button for the TCL T720S ! It is the pinhole above the camera on back of phone. NO THIS IS A MIC!!!!

So I Had several shots at this, holding down the reset button with a dental pick (I could not feel anything like a button click or anything like that, but I tried not to use too much force!)

I cant' tell exactly what sequence worked, I'm sorry, but at some point, after prodding plugging and unplugging, I got the Device Manager to recognize that the drivers needed updating, and then i just followed the YouTube tut again from there.

Well, the installation of the drivers is becoming a bitch. the next step ADB didn't take, so uninstalled as instructed. Now I can 'see' the  Driver, but I cannot get the damn thing to update and install at all. It,s an endless cycle of trying and trying, I almost did it with a restart and kept the phone plugged in and the reset button pressed, but that didn't look right either. Man, its one of those missions...

Duh! Forgot to uninstall Snap  pea and old Samusung android applications. Not sure if they are causing it, but at this point its a case of clean up the drive until something gels. Will reboot PC now...

Out goes Apple mobile device support too...

Drivers installed by going the route of choosing from computer rather than navigating to the link, three to four hours!!!! STILL don't know if ADB drivers will install. yet. This is seriously not funny anymore.

I have a Chinese buddy who is reading the manual now, he says the 'reset pinhole' above the camera is in fact a microphone (as I suspected, but what other info did I have?) So We are trying to D/L the ROM and factory reset from SD card, BUT I can't get to my recovery menu, on the phone, only the boot menu! Attempts to use a script to flash recovery menu last night failed.

on phones with non removeable battery there is to 90% a reset button.

if not maybe the preloader gets triggered by just connecting it when its turned off.

i know its hard, but pls start all over. Once a wrong driver installation, then this shit is may not going to work..

We can't D//L the Chinese software from his Hong Kong hotel so when he get back to Sydney on Saturday we wil conference and try to do a reset from the SD card. If anyone following this has any ideas meanwhile I'm still willing to hear them. Right now I'm stuck at the point where the ADC drivers are not installing and I can't get to recovery menu, when I do its a fluke, and the options don't work and I get thrown into the boot loop again.

So the manual does not say where the 'RESET' hole on this phone is, I've probably destroyed the mic in the camera
all the other options in the other post don't exist on this phone the only other likely place is probably the phone mic. I'm not poking anything else until I know whats in the hole! (Advice I should take to bed as well)
