I bought an S4 Mini clone, and the contacts and calendar programs were missing. All I wanted to do is copy these files into my system folder, with no success. After many hours of searching I came to realize that I could not install CWM the conventional way for me to accomplish my task. The cause was the UBIFS system Here is some info I came across that may help you with you UBIFS Device.

Most phones, if not all, with UBIFS Devices can not install CWM. For this you need to port your recovery.img with Carliv Touch Recovery

**As with anything to do with flashing, make sure you have access to a stock recovery and/or full backup for your model phone before attempting this**

What you'll need:

A rooted MTK phone: Click Me

USB data cable for connecting to PC

ADB VCOM Drivers: Click Me

The CWM Magic create (AKA Ctr22_UBIFS, AKA Carliv Touch Recovery) for UBIFS ONLY

Click Me

What to do:

1) Install ADB drivers

2) Copy CWM Magic to the desktop

3) Run the CWM Magic

4) Follow the instructions on screen

5) At points during the process, you'll see SuperSU pop-ups asking for permission. Allow them.

The entire process can take several minutes, wait for it to finish.

It will then boot you into your new recovery.

You can now boot into this recovery by pressing the volume up,power, and home key.

Here are some example pics of what the Carlov Touch Recovery looks like.

This is not exactly CWM, but CWM based.

Futher info can be found here: Click Me

More info can also be searched on Google.

***DISCLAIMER: While this tool has had excellent success, China Devices takes no responsibility for any damage or bricking you may cause by messing with your phone.

hey zzyzxroad,

nice tutorial great to see people willing to take the time to help others,

did you get your calender and contacts sorted out...?

all you have to do to get the pics side by side is just space bar and add the next picture rather than press the enter button and start a new line...

let me know when it is finished and we will move it to the tutorials section

I thought I did that

1) Install ADB drivers
2) Copy CWM Magicto the desktop

3) Run the CWM Magic

4) Follow the instructions on screen

5) At points during the process, you'll see SuperSU pop-ups asking for permission. Allow them.

The entire process can take several minutes, wait for it to finish.
Or did you mean on the picture? The pics are only to show the program, not the steps.

Picture edited. Hopefully a bit better to visualize.

Hi all

I used this tutorial and install cwm. After that i wanted to do a backup to my device, i choose advanced backupn select to back up all. Everything goes ok, but finally i got this message "cannot attach mtd 14 can't mount /cache"

Is this important or dangerous??? I mean: i can use this image created by cwm to restore my phone if something happen to it, even with this message i get?

thank you all

I don't know how th take screenshots from recovery mode

but directly when i boot on recovery it the show me the menu of cwm and in bottom lots of messages:

E: can't attach mtd14E: can't mount cache/recovery/command

E: can't attach mtd14E: can't mount cache/recovery/log

E:can't open cache/recovery/log

E: can't attach mtd14E: can't mount cache/recovery/last_log

E:  can't mount cache/recovery/last_log

then press 'back up and restore" "advanced backup restore" "advanced backup" "perform backup"

it show me:

backing up boot image"

backup of boot image completed"

backing up recovery image"

backup recovery completed"

backing up system"

back up system completed

backing up .android secure

backup .android secure completed

backing up data"

back up data completed"

backing up cache"

 can't attach mtd14E: can't mount cache/recovery"

here atached a screenshot of the folder on my sdcard containing the back up

looks to me like it is telling you that it cannot backup your cache...that seems to be prevalent in every error message...so no big deal i guess

i have never had a ubifs device,(i will never own one of those...they are really crappy),so i cannot tell you for sure...do some google research on that error message see what you can find out

if i remember correctly the guy that created that recovery for ubifs devices can be contacted over at XDA
