Android 15 is coming, with the first developer preview released this week

On Tuesday morning local time, a Google developer commented on the Android Open Source project that the first developer preview of Android 15 is “scheduled” for release on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

The developers call it “Android V,” a reference to the internal dessert code-named “Vanilla Ice Cream.”

If the timing is accurate, then the first developer preview of Android 15 will be available just over a week after the Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 release. It’s worth noting that the first preview of Android 15 came a little later than the first version of Android 14 last year (February 8).

According to Google’s practice, only Pixel devices are eligible for the Android 15 developer preview at the beginning, as has been the case in the past few years, and the developer preview will have a variety of bugs, and Igeekphone does not recommend that small partners will upgrade the main machine to try.

Android 15 will bring some improvements to the native system, including a “Private space” feature that allows users to hide and lock certain apps so they don’t appear in the app list.
