2020 is pretty much done when it comes to Apple product launches and now we’re looking into 2021. Next year could bring us mini LED iPads or even OLED iPad Pro models. Till that happens we learn more today about an upcoming 10.5 inch iPad with an affordable price tag of $299.
The current 8th gen iPad was launched in September with a low price and it’s up for an upgrade already. The 9th gen iPad is said to come with a bigger screen, a 10.5 inch one and it could also arrive with a Home button with Touch ID. The product is said to come in the first half of 2021. The latest leak comes from a tipster, claiming that the slate will use a 10.5 inch Retina Display and since we also get a Home button with Touch ID, the old school design will probably be kept and we won’t see the industrial design of the iPad Air 2020.
The same source claims that the iPad will be thinner and lighter than the current models. The 2021 iPad 9 will have an Apple A13 Bionic CPU inside, the same one that powers the iPhone 11 series. The next gen slate will also arrive with 4 GB of RAM instead of the 3 GB from the current unit. 64 GB of base storage will probably be available here, double the amount provided by the current gen affordable iPad. A $299 price tag is also thrown around, which is actually good news, since the current iPad sells at $329.
However, that price may only apply to students, since Apple usually offers them discounts.
